A Little Bit About Me...

I graduated with a degree in earth science education in 1995. I worked for several years as a substitute teacher and then returned to college to gain biology certification. I worked at a local high school for five years teaching seventh grade science and senior high general science. For the last six years I have worked for a head start program. I am currently doing subsitute teaching again and would love to help students be successful by providing tutoring. Over the years I have worked with a variety of age levels of students and thier families.
I enjoy working with students of all ages and want nothing more than for them to succeed. In order for them to succeed it somtimes requires a little more attention than the classroom teacher can provide. I have received extensive formal training in all of the sciences, especially biology and microbiology. I also spent many years conducting research and teaching for various colleges and universities. I have taught a wide variety of students, including nursing students, science majors, and non-science majors. Having obtained my own education as a nontraditional student, I relate very well to their situation and I derive a great deal of satisfaction from working with them. I have taught courses in virtually every branch of biology, and I maintain a strong interest in all areas of this field.
My teaching strategy generally involves creating a foundation of basic principles and then building until a thorough understanding of the subject has been attained.
