I enjoy working with students of all ages and want nothing more than for them to succeed. In order for them to succeed it somtimes requires a little more attention than the classroom teacher can provide. While tutoring I would hope to be able to have the time and patience necessary to be a support to your child and their current educational system. Each student learns in their own individul way. I believe I have the skills to get to know your child and the ways that they will learn best. I have received extensive formal training in all of the sciences, especially biology and microbiology. I also spent many years conducting research and teaching for various colleges and universities. I have taught a wide variety of students, including nursing students, science majors, and non-science majors. Having obtained my own education as a nontraditional student, I relate very well to their situation and I derive a great deal of satisfaction from working with them. I have taught courses in virtually every branch of biology, and I maintain a strong interest in all areas of this field.
My teaching strategy generally involves creating a foundation of basic principles and then building until a thorough understanding of the subject has been attained.
