A Little Bit About Me...

As children learn in different ways and at different paces, many have difficulty adapting to the standardized teaching of institutional education. I believe that children learn best from a personal approach that meets their needs and draws on their strengths. I begin the teaching process by building rapport, encouraging ideas, and instilling confidence. I then determine a starting point by measuring the child’s aptitude. Following initial sessions, I develop an individualized plan that ensures appropriate and effective teaching methods. My style is flexible, patient, and engaging. More About This Tutor...

I have worked for one school year as a substitute for both Hanover County and Louisa County, I am Currently employed by Hanover County Public Schools as a teaching assistant while continuing my work on my graduate work. I will still be employed by hanover County Schools for the 2009-2010 School year.
I work well as a one on one special education aide because my attention is soley on the activities and education of my students. I am a laid back worker, and extremely patient because I find that if I allow myself to get out of shape, then I am not an effective teacher and aide, and my students will see this. I strive to be a good role model to them all, even when I may be frustrated but I find constructive ways of venting such as listening to music during class quiet times and taking walks with my students during activity breaks and while they are in PE.
