As a teacher there is nothing more rewarding than the look on a child's face when a skill is mastered or a mystery becomes an understood concept. This is what attracted me to the field of education and what has kept me here. I am also fully aware that each student does not reach this level of mastery by following the same path. I believe one of my greatest strengths as a teacher is to be able to change this path for each student. I always begin a class with in upbeat, fun atmosphere. I sometimes have powerful, familiar music playing when my students walk into the classroom. Children love to learn and feel a sense of accomplishment and self-worth when they are successful. I greatly enjoy helping children learn. Each child has the capacity to learn and it is the teachers job to present the material in a manner which is conductive to the child’s understanding. Providing tools to help each student comprehend the material is essential. Many students are helped with additional reading strategies, or using a math manipulative to make an abstract concept understandable, or a graphic organizer to help understand new content material.
