I have a B.Mus. from Five Towns College. I have been actively involved in music almost all of my life. I've played in numerous groups of varied styles, at various venues. I also have a passion for learning and education, which has always led me to delving deeply into all subjects I have encountered, and excelling in advanced courses in math, music, history, etc. I tutored 20 hrs a week all throughout my college career, and have experience as a teacher's aide in a school for mentally and behaviorally challenged children. After finishing High school I was admitted to Kiev’s Glier musical College, which I finished with distinction, and get Bachelors degree as a clarinet and saxophone player, as well as conductor of brass bands. I was a teacher in musical school and a leader in numerous small jazz bands. In 1977 me and my family immigrated to United States where I continue playing In orchestras and participates in a small quartets. My teaching style could be described as fun, supportive, caring, and disciplined. By disciplined I don't mean tough, hard, or mean. Students are assigned work that they are expected to complete, although it won't be too time consuming. All work is intended to improve the student's abilities in the field that I will be tutoring them. Improvement is encouraged and positively reinforced.
I have tutored Music Theory, Aural Skills, and Music History for two and a half years at Adelphi University. My G.P.A. in Music Theory was a 3.4 and my G.P.A. for Aural Skills was a 4.0. I was recommended by the former Department Chair-Person to tutor a student with special needs. I have also taught lessons primarily for trumpet, but also for tuba, trombone, euphonium, baritone, and French horn.
