I am very passionate about teaching. I believe that every student, regardless of background, has the ability to learn and excel in mathematics. My teaching style is a cooperative type. I work with the students to help them discover mathematic principles. I have learned that a standard lecture type format does not fit every student, however, research indicates that cooperative learning environments greatly benefit and increase a student's learning. A Little Bit About Me...

I enjoy the interaction with the students when I taught at Shoals Christian. I am more of a concepts kind of guy, wanting the student to grasp the concept of what is going on in a specific problem. I enjoy helping others and serving them through the tutoring opportunities I have at the job I am currently working.
I have been able to tutor at the college level in subjects such as chemistry and anatomy and physiology for a brief period of time while I was a student at Northwest Shoals Community College. After I finished my BS at University of North Alabama, I taught for a year at Shoals Christian. There I taught high school physical science courses. Currently I am a lab assistant/tutor at Northwest Shoals Community College where I help students with lower level college math.

A Little Bit About Me...

All children can learn, but it is my job, as a teacher, to figure out which learning style suits each particular child. Once you find that learning style, I always find that the students enjoy learning. Learning can be (and should be) enjoyed. I want my students to know that there is not just one set way of doing things. I am also a firm believer in positive reinforcement. I look for positive aspects in every student, and I praise that student for their hardwork and dedication.
I graduated Athens State University in 2005 with a BS in Elementary Education (K-6). After graduation, I became a substitute teacher for six months. In 2006 I was hired on by Decatur City Schools.
