I have participated in many study groups where I actively contribute information on the topic of interest; there we help each other and teach each other. Also, I'm the oldest sibling of four, I have had many years of helping out with homework and tutoring in reading, writing and math. My education consisted of diverse studies and I learned a great deal of mathematics and sciences. Also, naturally I use proper grammar and have a good hand for writing. I am a very creative person and can come up with unique topics. I'm also very artsy and appreciate a good hands on experiment.

I believe with my background I should be a good candidate for the tutoring position. I have a B.S. Chemistry from Elizabeth City State University, where I did R&D work with Atrazine. Atrazine is a pesticide that was tested qualitatively and quantitatively using HPLC. I've completed coursework for a M.S. Chemical Physics from Norfolk State University. After being offered a Teaching Assistantship, I taught multiple chemistry laboratory classes. My graduate research focuses on synthesizing organic monomers for Photovoltaic applications; however, I have assisted with research devoted to immobilizing enzymes onto solid supports at the Center for Materials Research, NSU. I am very knowledgeable in wet chemistry techniques as well as analytical characterization, such as TGA, UV/VIS, NMR, DSC, GPC,..etc. My previous formulating experience with Leiner Heath Products focuses on the prefo ... read more

A Little Bit About Me...

I have informally tutored people of various age ranges in the subjects, physics and math , for a period that ranges over about three years . I have taught younger relatives as well as helped people informally on online tutoring message boards with math and physics problems. I have also been paid to assist students in how to operate the basic commands of computational mathematical software for three years as well.
I would be glad to work with students of all ages, but I prefer to work with a student individually rather than work with students in a group. From both my experience of being an informal tutor and being tutored, I find that students general prefer this style of tutoring because the tutor can both focus and better access their student's strengths and weaknesses in the particular academic subject they are having difficulty with.

My teaching philosophy is simple and contains three parts. Part one: The concept or topic is easy, regardless of what it is, it just must be broken down to its most basic elements. This is my job to do for the student. Once this is done for the student it will be shown that the perceived “complexity of the subject” is simply a compilation of basic elements of the subject, from here the topic can be built upon to more advanced levels; I am convinced this idea is not subject dependant. Part two: The student must decide that he or she can and will understand the subject matter and be successful in it. This too is a part of my job to encourage, motivate and instill confidence in the student. Part three: Practice, practice, and after that more practice. I will teach and encourage the student to constantly work on his or her new skills in the subject matter and as always review his or h ... read more

As a graduate of the Air Force Academy and Harvard Business School, I know what it takes to achieve excellence in education. I have earned advanced degrees in Engineering and Business. My love of teaching and coaching brought me back to the Air Force Academy to coach and tutor college athletes in math, science, English, and French. I also have extensive writing and speaking experience and have helped many students with college essays and applications.
My teaching style adapts to each individual I work with. I believe that one of the most important things to helping anyone learn is to instill in them the confidence that they can be successful. I believe that there are lots of different ways to learn, and I like helping people figure out what works for them. If someone wants to be successful and is willing to put in the work, I will find a way to help them achieve their goals.

Whenever I have the opportunity to teach students the first thing that I am reminded of is the fact that I was once a student. I become very much aware of the difficulty students can face in trying to understand some physics concepts. It therefore becomes a very important task for me to be patient, detailed in my explanation and also very resourceful in helping students achieve success. As a teacher I also like to motivate the students to develop inquisitive minds so that they can become not only learners of science in the class but also applicators of its principles in their everyday life.
I have been able to earn degrees that ranges from an Associate of Science in Electrical Power Engineering to a Masters of Science degree in Physics. This has equipped me with the necessary skills needed to show students how to navigate their learning experience especially in physics. In addition ... read more

I feel as though every child can achieve the impossible, and with the help of someone giving them the attention that they deserve and need, they will feel better about themselves as well. I want to get a child in a learning mood where they'll want to go to school everyday and learn something. I want to be an inspiration to them or a role model or someone they can look up to for advice so that they can follow in my footsteps as far as finishing high school and continuing education to strive and be the best that they can be.
As an graduate of Elizabeth City State University, I have done exceptionally well. I learned so much through tutoring other students. When I tutored in the Business Department for Accounting and Finance classes, I gave some students hope, and some students even looked up to me. That they made me feel great and it really made me enjoy what I did because I helped a ... read more

Building a healthy relationship in a friendly learning environment where students feels comfortable and not intimated is essential to reducing anxieties, thereby allowing the student to express themselves and think freely, without pressure.I understand patience and tone of voice is vital to teaching critical thinking skills and strategies needed to perform the most challenging equations. I have experienced that if a student spends time talking their way through problems, they develop a better understanding of the process of problem solving. I ultimately understand that building self confidence provides a child with the self-assurance to learn independently, and develop a love and passion for learning all things
During college I studied Electrical Engineering for 7 years where I gained an extensive background in mathematics and science while obtaining my Masters Degree. During my M ... read more

I have a high regard for all students and believe that if they want to learn, I will find a way to teach them what they want to know. I am patient with students and will try various approaches to teach these students. I realize not all students learn the same way. I have taken education courses and have over 6 years of experience as a substitute teacher in the Wake County Public School system. I am asked to teach special needs children all the time in Wake County Public Schools. Finally, I love to interact with students of all grades and ages.
I have had almost 10 years of experience tutoring students at the elementary, middle and high school level in teaching math and science. Before this, I went to local Wake County Public Schools to demonstrate science subjects such as ocean waves, ground water pumping, nutrient contamination and water quality in fresh water lakes. Finally, I wa ... read more

I graduated from NC A&T with a 3.1 GPA. I have earned a BS in Electronic & Computer Technology, which allowed me to become knowledgeable in many fields, with mathematics as my best subject. In high school, I helped tutor middle school students after school. In college, I helped tutor classmates in my spare time in the dorm or in the Student Union. I have always felt that my reason for being here on this earth is to help others. You cannot do anything alone!!
I love helping others, especially kids. I feel that I can be an asset to each and every child who wants to learn. I grew up around kids who did not have the materials or the guidance to motivate them to achieve. I want to become a resource that will make a difference in someone’s life.

I am a graduate student at the North Carolina Central University. I graduate in May 2010 of this year. I am majoring in physics and mathematics. My logic and analytical skills are very good. I prefer math to physics but am capable of working with any of the two.
I love and enjoy teaching. I am very good listener and try to explain in detail to my students. I always believe a student is cable of learning; all he or she needs is the interest and belief that he or she is capable of achieving.
