I enjoy tutoring those who are in Middle School or High school. I feel as though they tend to have a higher capacity for sustaining attention. Those are unique ages that can really build a foundation for later education. I believe that one-on-one time is essential in learning. Some people might learn well in a large group, but others learn much better when time is spent on explaing specific details. I find the most enjoyment when a tutee finally links the core concept and is able to solve more difficult problems on their own. I am currently a Senior at Bethel College. I earned my degrees in education from Ball State University. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a Kindergarten Endorsement, M.A.E. degree, and a Master of Arts degree in Special Education with minors in the following: Learning Disabilities, Mildly Mentally Handicapped, Seriously Emotionally Handicapped. I have taught at the elementary level in both general education classes and special education classes and at the high school level in special education classes. I enjoy teaching and find it very rewarding. I believe that all children can learn and it is the teacher's role to find the learning style of his or her students and to plan lessons and activities to meet their needs. It has been a passion of mine to teach. I believe the biology and chemistry coursework necessary for my degree, would be of great benefit. Every child learns in different ways, I will assess what ability level each child learns at; and tutor to each child's needs. To give you some background, I graduated from Purdue University, Fort Wayne with a degree in biology and chemistry. I subsequently accepted a position with the Allen County Department of Health as an Environmental Health Specialist. In this position, I routinely inspect restaurants and markets in the Allen County Area.
