My style has always been to encourage questions from the student or with the many people who have worked for me over the years to challenge the status quo. I encourage individuals to stretch the envelope and to seek different solutions rather than accept what has been done before. I have also stressed that there is never a bad question or wrong to think outside the box. For example I have always asked students, "Why study history?" Very hands on with a strict demeanor initially that I relax as I gain my students mutual respect. I believe in differentiating instruction as every student learns and retains information in different ways and the best way, in my mind, to teach a student is by covering as many of the multiple intelligences as possible with a focus on that particular students specific strengths and learning style.
I recently received my Bachelors degree in High School Ed with a focus on social studies and I am currently in the process of receiving a Bachelors in history at the end of this semester as well. I also am enrolled in the Graduate program at Lourdes to receive my endorsement to teach K-12 Reading. I also was a certified child care administrator for the YMCA for 6 months in 2006 but had to step down due to my student teaching responsibilities.
