I was the type of person back in school who could never focus on anything in school, and one year I had to go to summer school. There I met a teacher who changed learning for me completely.I learned thing that i struggled to learn for years in just a couple months. It was amazing. From then on i remembered his teached ways and swore I would become a teacher or even a tutor and teach the same way he did,to help others learn and feel accomplished like I did.
I like a fun teaching style, yet one that makes sure that the student's lessons stick in their head.

I feel that the best teachers are the ones who have fun while teaching. I have had the fortune of always loving what I do. All children have the potential to acheive success if they are challenged and provided with the proper tools. I have been told several times that I am great at thinking "outside the box", and this has served the children I have worked with well.My background in Art and Special Ed allow me to be a practical and creative teacher. I have learned that not all learning is conducted through traditional manners. Some children require videos, others hands on experience to improve learning. It is my goal to make a positive impact on all of my students' lives.
I graduated from Southern CT State University in 2007 with a degree in Art Education. I have been teaching or substitute teaching in some capacity since my sophomore year of college. I have been exposed to ... read more

I believe that everyone is teachable, if the student has the desire and the teacher has the commitment. I tend to be a patient teacher, with high standards. I actively question the student, which allows me to challenge the student in my presence, where I am able to guide him/her. While I have predominantly tutored college students, I have also taught adults and children. My sister-in-law is probably my biggest supporter, since she has watched me teach my nephews (now 9 and 10) an array of subjects over the years. I believe encouragement is an extremely useful tool, which when used properly can make a remarkable difference.

A Little Bit About Me...

I try to tailor my style to the student. Each student I had tutored when I was in college I had basically spoke with them, got to learn what they strong points were, their weaknesses, and areas that needed more base learning. I tailored lesson plans to help fill in their educational gaps, created small weekly assignments, and also helped with their current homework/lesson plan. I believe everyone learns in different ways. Some are more visual, others are more auditory so I tried to not only explain but also show by using whatever tools necessary/applicable (graphs, pictures, charts, etc.)
My love of mathematics began while I was in elementary school--I looked forward to those classes and took as many as I could from my high school, Wyoming Area. I had, at one point in middle school, helped to tutor some students in one of my classes. While in college at Susquehanna University ... read more

Children love to learn and feel a sense of accomplishment and self-worth when they are successful. I greatly enjoy helping children learn. Each child has the capacity to learn and it is the teachers job to present the material in a manner which is conductive to the child’s understanding. Providing tools to help each student comprehend the material is essential. Many students are helped with additional reading strategies, or using a math manipulative to make an abstract concept understandable, or a graphic organizer to help understand new content material. The key is to provide additional methods or strategies so each student is successful. I have a passion to see each child succeed and reach their goals.

A Little Bit About Me...

I love teaching and working with children. I love the joy that children get on their faces when they finally understand the concepts that they are trying to learn. I really enjoy working with children with various learning styles and abilities. I'm a patient, open-minded, empathic listener whose focus is the development of your child's potential. I strongly believe that building self-confidence is vital for each individual. By being self-confident, one is more sure of himself, and can gain a higher sense of self-esteem. By being taught through positive motivation, teachings, and feedback, each student will become more self-confident and have a positive attitude with any situation he or she may encounter.

Since each child learns differently and has a unique way of understanding information, I have used many modalities in the course of my teaching. Most recently, teaching young children with specified learning disabilities has taught me to try a variety of activities to facilitate learning. I have learned to be more patient, to take a greater amount of time in explaination and teaching, and to use more hands-on materials to aid in understanding of what is being taught.
As a Graduate in the field of Education, I have worked with a variety of students from daycare up to grade 8.
