A Little Bit About Me...

I have worked with children for many years and in many different settings. I have observed so many different learning styles and I strive, as a teacher, to be flexible enough to help a child learn using their strengths. I do not expect perfection but I do expect my students to work to their potential. I also believe that my students need to feel as though they can openly discuss any problems or concerns with me. I believe that the learning process is a group effort. My goal as a teacher is to provide a learning environment that will enable students to learn, grow, and feel good about themselves.

I have been teaching for 25 years. I have tutored students in beginning Spanish and reading. I have also taught Sunday School and have been a substitute teacher for 11 years. I have just completed student teaching to become an Intervention Specialist. I intend to be certified this spring.
I vary my teaching style. Some students are content with just reading while others need hands-on and visual experience. I believe in using technology, as the Smart Board and computer instruction in addition to textbook instruction. I do my best to keep the student's interest in mind, and I work at the student's pace.
