I am going to school right now for a Associate Degree in Applied Science getting my General Studies completed. I will be transferring to WSU next year for a bachelor degree. Throughout my general studies I have focused on Sociology, Psychology, Business English. I have a license in Elementary Education with an endorsement in middle school math. I am currently attending WSU for a Masters in Counseling. I have been working for the Wichita Public Schools since 2006. I have tutored at the Wichita Children's Home helping over 40 students earn their high school diplomas.
I love working with children and believe every child can not only learn, but enjoy learning. I like making learning fun. Some obstacles in learning are based on one's feelings about learning or about a particular subject. I have often proof read friends and colleagues papers and other writings. Also, I received 100% in my college algebra class and statistics. My teaching style is conducive to learning.

A Little Bit About Me...

Although I never actually taught a class, I was able to learn how to adapt to the individual needs of a student. Some learn visually, others with games, practice, hands on... and the list continues. I find starting out with the basics and working up to the harder subjects is important. So, with the assignment given I also ask other questions of the student to see if they understand the more basic concepts of the problem as well as answer the question. I find this helps them understand the process more completely and the student ends up giving more complete answers on assignments and exams. At the end of each session I hope the person I am helping better understands the material and can gain a little confidence about the subject.
