My greatest joy as a tutor and professor is to witness the "Ah-ha" moment when the light bulb comes on and the student puts the pieces together and comes to understand the topic, and, perhaps more importantly, understands the significance or ramifications of the topic in relation to other topics or disciplines. I obtained Secondary Teacher Certification in Social Sciences. I taught high school and middle school Spanish for two and half years at public schools, and completed my student teaching at an alternative school for juvenile criminals. I was an at home teacher for my school district when children were out for extended periods due to illness. I have completed additional continuing education in working with gifted and special needs children. I enjoy sharing my passion for learning with others and love to see the “light” come on when a student finally understands a concept.
I believe making the information relevant to the student is important. I like to use humor and real-life examples to keep students engaged. I would like to share my experience with the people I teach on how to use many of the short cuts in both math and physics for a better understanding of the topics covered. Also I encourage students to do as many practice problems as possible; I believe with enough practice, everyone can become experts even at the difficult topics.
The education that I have received in Biology and Chemistry enabled me to develop excellent skills not only in many of the life sciences and physics but also math.
