A Little Bit About Me...

During my career as a researcher in the field of software engineering, my work depended on mathematical thinking. I have spent considerable energy, from my time working toward my Bachelor's and Master's degrees in engineering and through my subsequent career, communicating ideas through writing, lecturing, tutoring, and creating and teaching courses. Watching my own children going through high school has motivated me for the past six years to focus my attention on teaching and tutoring, concentrating on math.
I enjoy teaching young adults, watching "the light bulb go off" as they come to understand concepts that had been eluding them. Math is a subject that centers around understanding and applying a surprisingly modest number of concepts. As a graduate from New Mexico Tech, I believe my education to be advanced and very useful. NMT has very high expectations for its students, and demands an obscene amount of drive and focus. The math department in particular, is very challenging; therefore, I feel that my hard work and achievements present much to offer any student. All of my prior tutoring experience has been volunteer work for family members and friends in various fields; mostly mathematics, but also some chemistry, GMAT preparation, and elementary grammar. Though I do not have any certified teaching experience, my education and volunteer work have been quite in depth.
