Dyslexia Tutor

Taught elementary education for 6 years. Also received 40 hours of training in the Orton-Gillingham method of dyslexia tutoring. Emphasized reading and writing with beginning students in primary grades, and spent a substantial amount of time working with students with learning disabilities. I have dyslexia myself, and found a tutor in 4th grade who, over two years, taught me how to cope with my learning disability.

Working with central city and at-risk youth is my life work. For the past ten years I have worked in a myriad of social service and educational settings employing a plethora of strategies aimed at helping central city and at-risk students achieve academic, career and social success. What's more, as a former struggling central city and at-risk student, I understand that students can only learn when they can make meaning out of their learning experience.
