A Little Bit About Me...

Tutoring began for me at Montana State University-Northern while attending school majoring in Pre-Med. I worked at Student Support Services for five semesters tutoring mostly science based classes. I fell in love with giving knowledge and helping students understand concepts of their specific courses. I am two semesters away from obtaining my B.S in Pre-Med with a minor in chemistry. I have always enjoyed working with multiple levels of students, but prefer high school and up. A Little Bit About Me...

As a graduate student in mechanical engineering, I have much experience in the math and science fields including experimental methods. I have written many technical conference papers as well as presented them to researchers around the country. These experiences have come in quite useful during the last year when I have tutored SAT and ACT prep courses in math and science, as well as math courses up to advanced high school level. A Little Bit About Me...

I believe in identifying the learning style of the student which can take some time with some. Are they a visual learner I draw pictures, maps, charts and video; if an audio learner tapes, lecture, youtube, video, etc,.. and if a kinesthetic learner then they need the hands on experience to develop the learning that is needed, so then standing back to guide the thought process without doing it for them.
I started as an Adjunct Instructor at ISU for the Geomatics Engineering program for the 2007-2008 school year. Prepare for class setup the curriculum, homework, grading and test for 10-12 students. I went to ITT Technical Institute following that and was offered to Chair School of Drafting & Design. I taught and ran the department for 2 years. I was in charge of 4-10 teachers and 170+ students.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always had a love for math and science. I was able to challenge and develop my problem solving skills in achieving a Masters Degree in Architecture. I have a also received a Minor in Business. I have earned an AA in Liberal arts, AS in Allied Health, and a BS in Biology which have enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math, chemistry, genetics and science. I was a Chemistry lab assistant at a JC for a year, during which I aided and tutored chemistry students with their general and organic chemistry needs, and prepared classroom instructional materials and labs for all the Chemistry classes. A Little Bit About Me...

My teaching style is easy going and less formal. I know that each student learns best in a unique way. I feel that the most effective teachers try to mold their teaching style to the student rather than the other way around. Also I like to make sure that the student learns how the particular information being taught fits in the larger field of study. I find this greatly enhances retention of information and the ability to use that information.
From January of 2002 to June 2008 I taught rock climbing classes for Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Oregon. These were 1 credit PE classes that covered beginning, intermediate and advanced rock climbing. I prepared lessons, gave lectures, supervised student practice and assessed student performance.
