Organic Chemistry is one of my top subjects!

Experienced as an instructor teaching CPR, First Aid, swimming, and lifeguarding courses to individuals or classes of up to 30 students. Proficient in math, science, and test taking skills. I truly enjoy teaching others, as I have worked as a mentor in engineering camps and in the freshman dormitories at Arizona State University, as well as worked as a residenial assistant in the freshman dormitories. I like helping students understand larger concepts in a simpler way using tricks I have found helpful, connecting the big picture at the end. I don't believe that anything is too difficult, it may just need to be broken down and approached differently.

Tutoring began for me at Montana State University-Northern while attending school majoring in Pre-Med. I worked at Student Support Services for five semesters tutoring mostly science based classes. I fell in love with giving knowledge and helping students understand concepts of their specific courses. I am two semesters away from obtaining my B.S in Pre-Med with a minor in chemistry. I have always enjoyed working with multiple levels of students, but prefer high school and up. Most of my tutoring experience has been working with 9-12th graders, which I have found to enjoy because the relationship between student and tutor is closer to a peer-peer relationship. My style of teaching includes mostly example problems and breaking down these problems into basic parts. I like to find example problems that are challenging to the student, but not to the point of frustration. I try to keep the students' confidence up so that they are willing to try the next, more challenging problem.
As a graduate student in mechanical engineering, I have much experience in the math and science fields including experimental methods. A Little Bit About Me...

I have earned an AA in Liberal arts, AS in Allied Health, and a BS in Biology which have enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math, chemistry, genetics and science. I was a Chemistry lab assistant at a JC for a year, during which I aided and tutored chemistry students with their general and organic chemistry needs, and prepared classroom instructional materials and labs for all the Chemistry classes. In addition to tutoring peers and friends at the JC, I helped students at the CSU I attended with everything from chemistry and genetics to physiology and cellular biology. I also have ample experience tutoring grammar school kids, grades 3rd through 8th, in language arts, math, chemistry, and all other sciences.

A Little Bit About Me...

I taught freshman chemistry in the fall of 2009. I greatly enjoyed the time spent with the students, and seeing the ahh ha moments. I also worked as a graduate student assistant teaching the knowledge that I had to the undergraduates from June 2008 to June 2009.
With all my students including with my own daughter I expect them to try. I tend to be unforgiving until I see them try, then I will step in and correct. I am always amazed on how many kids young and old have learned how to sit out and wait till someone just gives them the answer. Science is hard stuff and the best thing that I can do is teach them how to look up the information that they need.
