I believe each student is different and as such, each should be handled differently. My more than six years of tutoring experience provided me extensive background on students characters and approaches in better presenting the subject matter. I prefer to approach every student very slowly in the beginning to understand exactly where their trouble are. Listening is the most important attribute that a tutor can have followed by patience. It's my job to identify where the student's problem are and address those problems. My experience has tought me that most people just need a new perspective to understand certain materials at hand. Providing applications for someone learning new concepts is key for their development because the student understands how the concepts they're learning applies in the real world. I retired last year (2008) after 30 years as a Public Servant (law enforcement) with the City of San Diego. I have also retired from the Naval Reserve as a Master-At-Arms Chief in 2006. I have taught, counseled and mentored individuals throughout my career. I initially studied Physics and Math at college level and changed major after employment with the city.
