My entire life has been surrounded by both music and technology and I'm looking to share that with my students. In terms of musical instruction, though the particular curriculum I use varies from student from student, I am a firm believer in first connecting to music they already know and using that as a starting point to get them invested in the music. In terms of technology and other instruction, my number one goal is making sure that the student understands the particular subject before moving onto other, harder subjects.

A Little Bit About Me...

My learning and teaching preference is reading/writing. I adjust to students who are visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learners. I like to use examples to drive concepts home, to make them relevant to my students' lives, and to ground these concepts in reality. Examples include, say, how geometry is used to create movie 3D special effects, or how algebra is used in sound editing in a sound studio. I also intersperse jokes and puns to help the student relax and be assured that (s)he is in a safe, secure environment for comfortable learning.
I have been tutoring subject listed on my resume for about 11 years. A Little Bit About Me...

While working on my PhD. I was a graduate teaching fellow for the Dept. of Ed. Teacher-Scholar program. I supervised undergraduates in organic chemistry labs, graded exams, led recitation sections and graded homework for both organic and general chemistry lecture courses. I developed and presented a chemistry class for HP technicians, and was the HP Education Liaison for the University of Oregon. As an undergraduate at the University of Montana – Billings I was a teaching assistant in the general and organic chemistry labs and tutored both chemistry and physics at the college level. I have also tutored high school students in chemistry, physics and algebra. I was a substitute teacher for all grades in La Veta, CO.
