I enjoy teaching and help others learn the subjects of math, science and Spanish. Everyone is different and therefore everyone has a different style of learning. I graduated from Ronald Reagan High School with a 4.6 GPA in the second graduating class ('08), then went on the NC State University to study Engineering, where I jumped in between various Engineering programs for three years before simply deciding to take a break and truly figure out what I want to study. Experienced math tutor.

I have been tutoring at Forsyth Technical Community College since September 2008. I work on average, over the 5 years, 15 hours a week, but now working 21 hours a week since I am now out of school. I have done private tutoring for about 3 years now, either with people from met from school or from tutoring. I got a BS in both Mathematics and Computer Science in May of 2013. Math and computers have always been my strength, and when getting my degree, I would always help my friends in their classes.
It depends on the student and what they are doing. If all they need is practice, then I will let the student do all of the work, interjecting only to give advice or to correct a mistake if the student does not catch it themselves. I consider myself a facilitator of information more than a teacher. Students must be accountable for their own learning. In math and science, it is important that students know how to apply knowledge rather than merely memorize information. A Little Bit About Me...

As seen from above, I have valid tutoring experience in both middle grades and HS. I was in the student teaching program at Wake Forest and upon graduation, I was a substitute teacher in the Winston-Salem, Forsyth County School system. I also participated in the Junior Achievement program in the Piedmont NC region for over 5 years. I am currently a tutor with the "No Child Left Behind Program."
I am a disciplinarian. I have an excellent ability to gain a students attention, keep it and the results of my students have been well above average. I have a knack to bring into the classroom, outside events (latest ball games, Olympics, etc.) to establish a 'bond' between myself and the student. This allows me to gain their confidence as well as not create a bored atmosphere. I find this very important, especially with the more difficult students.

I received my undergraduate Bachelor's degree from Wake Forest in 2006 in Religion and Political Science. I worked at Sloan Academics for one year in Winston-Salem as a academic tutor for a 6th-grade girl in all subjects. In January of 2009 I started the Master's Education program at Salem College to gain both a license as well as a Master's to teach secondary Mathematics. I have taken several Math classes at Salem to be able to teach (Calculus I, II, and IV, Linear Algebra), as well as successfully tutored a Wake Forest student in Calculus I in the Fall of 2009. Also in the Fall of 2009 to the present I tutor a 6th-grade girl (different from Sloan) in Math. I hope to receive my license after the Spring 2010 semester.
