I have always enjoyed working with students one-on-one. To teach effectively one must understand what motivates the individual, and the only way to do that is to spend time with that person. If a student is a visual learner, I will use visual aids to illustrate the lesson. If a student is an auditory learner, I will concentrate on lecture or video instruction. The key to student learning is to engage the student's interest. I graduated from the University of South Alabama with an Elementary Education degree in December of 2005. During this time, I completed my student teaching at Holloway Elementary School. During the year of student teaching, I learned to work with diverse learning styles, varying stages of development as well as a multitude of learning tools.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have two years of experience teaching the English language to Taiwanese children and youth. I have also worked with at-risk children and youth in summer and after-school programs. In addition, I have one year of experience in curriculum development. In addition, I have earned a BA in political science (from a liberal arts college) and am currently working on a BS in accounting. I have an excellent command of the English language, social studies, and synthesis writing, and have successfully tutored my own child in phonics and reading.
Having taught children and youth from age 5 through 16, I can truly say that I enjoy the experience.
