A Little Bit About Me...

I have always enjoyed working with students one-on-one. To teach effectively one must understand what motivates the individual, and the only way to do that is to spend time with that person. If a student is a visual learner, I will use visual aids to illustrate the lesson. If a student is an auditory learner, I will concentrate on lecture or video instruction. The key to student learning is to engage the student's interest. And of course, practice is essential when learning a skill, so I give students the opportunity to practice each skill and receive feedback, which helps guide the student into beneficial change and growth.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have always valued the importance of a quality education and have encouraged friends with no college ambition to start working on their degrees. I am not, however, an elitist. I think every endeavor is a learning experience, but there are basic skills that are necessary to be successful, such as grammar, spelling, and professionalism. My experience in formal teaching is mostly in college-level public speaking and coaching Little League, but I am a proficient and tedious writer. I am also familiar with APA, MLA, Chicago, Turabian, and BlueBook formatting styles. I graduated from the University of South Alabama with an Elementary Education degree in December of 2005. During this time, I completed my student teaching at Holloway Elementary School. During the year of student teaching, I learned to work with diverse learning styles, varying stages of development as well as a multitude of learning tools.
