All students can learn, but in different ways. I, for one, learn best by watching how something is done. I can read about it, or hear a lecture about it, but seeing it helps me understand the subject. This type of teaching would be done with movies, drawing or acting out the situation. In my teaching, I try to use all methods available to me to help the students learn and to use their creativity. I especially try to get students to work in groups and to share their work with each other. I find that pier groups provide the best help in understanding the subject matter. The classroom should be a learning place of activities and fun.

A Little Bit About Me...

I was a foster parent for fourteen years in which I spent numerous hours with each child weekly working with them to improve their academic skills. I taught a 4th/5th grade class in the 2006/2007 school year. I graduated with a 3.92 GPA where I excelled as a writer. I currently write the company newsletter at my place of employment. I love to teach and hope to be able to spend more time doing so. My BS is in Human Services.I also have added alcohol and drug studies to that degree. I will be taking a certification test very soon to acquire a RAS drug and alcohol certification. In my drug and alcohol study I became certified as a Motivational Interviewer and also received a certification in Group Facilitation.

I began my career as an interior designer with a BA in Fine Arts and Certificate of Design. My love for learning brought me to earn a Master's Degree on scholarship in teaching. This degree prepared me to teach pre-k students to eighth grade. In order to teach all students I acquired an endorsement of English as a second language and a gifted endorsement. I have had the privilege of teaching my colleagues how to teach writing. My desire to teach for excellence has been rewarded both individually and to the learning community I practiced in. I have taught in three states with teaching credentials from each.
