Let's get back down to the basics (Latin, History, Science)

I recieved a BA degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. I majored in Classical Civilization (with a Latin Concentration) and History. I have 12 years of experience teaching Latin. The courses I have taught include introductory courses, Latin I, Latin II, and Latin III. 3 years of Life Science teaching experience. 4 years of History teaching experience (as a tour guide and history interpreter) 12 years of experience teaching writing as well.
I like to boil things down to the basics. With Latin and Science that means learning as much as one can about the basic elements and then building one step at a time on those basics. In history, it means learning the story, and telling the story.

I truly enjoy working with all ages of students. I feel that one of the best ways to learn is to teach. Most of my lessons are built around the central idea of conversation and questioning. I also use a lot of active learning. For younger students, I do my best to keep them engaged by movement, music, and using their hands. When students are actively involved, they not only increase their understanding, but also gain the chance of remembering the lesson and information.
