My teaching style is organically structured, with an emphasis on scaffolding prior knowledge to new concepts. Being sensitive to the diversity of learners, I customize my teaching style to fit each individual’s specific needs. I have high expectations for my students, however, I base my expectations on their ability levels; levels that I am constantly monitoring in order to determine whether I need to ramp up the level of instruction or make accommodations until the theory at hand is fully grasped. A Little Bit About Me...

When I taught sailing to young kids, I used to dress up like a pirate. I have lots of energy. I know I'm doing my job right when kids start laughing. When I taught to teenagers, I kept in mind my own experiences at that age. If I'm helping a student study hard on that big, important test that might have the ability to crush the student's soul - I bust out my acoustic guitar and sing about how It's The End of The World As We Know It (And This Test Means Very Little In The Long Run).
I recently graduated cum laude from the University of Rhode Island with two Bachelors of Science in Marine Geology and Maritime Law. I teach sailing and environmental education in the summers. I enjoy teaching children, students of all ages and those willing to learn. As a high school student, I was involved in inner city teaching and I helped hartford students in their studies after their school. I appreciate higher education and I truly understand what it takes to teach as I myself teach my own children with their homework from their own schools after they come home. I earned the Barbara Allen Woods Award for German Excellence at the University of Rhode Island.
I taught school for four (4) years to ages kindergarten - seventh grade. I also tutored inner city children ages 5-12 for two (2) years.
