A Little Bit About Me...

I discovered my love for teaching and working with children in the Dominican Republic while on an alternative spring break working with at-risk youth living on the streets of the city of Santiago. With this experience I learned that one of the most important thing in the world is education, and I began my life as an educator. With tutoring I try to implement a facilitated teaching method that involves students pushing themselves to learn. After graduation I taught English for 28 years. During this time I became a Dept. Head. I also was trained to train teachers in learning styles and hemisphericity. I have adult AD/HD. I began working on teaching methods for AD/HD students. I have also trained over 200 teachers. I have tutored students for the GED, ACT, SAT, LSAT, and MCAT.
I believe strongly in approaching each child with a variety of techniques. I let the child explore why, then give concept information. The student then needs to practice, and finally personalize the information. This must be done using both analysis (left brain) and synthesis(right brain).
