While working on my Bachelors, I volunteered in eight schools working one on one with students, small groups, and classroom settings for language arts. I also student taught junior high language arts. I received numerous teacher of the week recognition when I taught after school art classes. Since graduation, I have been a substitute for all grade levels and subject matter. My teaching style highlights each student's strengths in the particular area in need of tutoring. By doing this, the student gains confidence in the material more and more by knowing that while they may struggle in part in a certain area, there are also multiple areas of strength to focus on to increase academic confidence.
