A Little Bit About Me...

I must admit that my experience with teaching is limited, however I love to sit down with groups of children and help them to discover new concepts and ways to learn the subject matter. I taught five year olds for two years in Sunday School. Every week was a challenge to help them to pay attention and listen well. Fortunately, through a great deal of patience, perseverance, and consideration for the children I was able to make learning about the scriptures fun. I did my internship at Springville High School and Dixon Middle School. At Dixon I was selected to help teach adults about the computer. I have 9 children. I was able to teach each of them. Some of them have gone on to higher education and have scholarships. I still have some at home and enjoy teaching them.
I like the tutoring environment because I like seeing individual progress. It is easier to assess where the child is. I believe that the basics are essential to moving forward in education. Memorization of math facts makes it easier for a child to learn new material because he isn't bogged down. I don't believe enough emphasis is placed on arithmetic in today's schools. I enjoy working with children and helping them discover their individual learning style. I believe all children can learn but that we each have our individual strengths.
