I like the tutoring environment because I like seeing individual progress. It is easier to assess where the child is. I believe that the basics are essential to moving forward in education. Memorization of math facts makes it easier for a child to learn new material because he isn't bogged down. I don't believe enough emphasis is placed on arithmetic in today's schools. Basic arithmetic skills make story problems easier. Types of story problems need to be practiced, not just thrown in at the end of a chapter without much information on how to do it. I am patient and punctual. I like being with students.

I recently graduated from Brigham Young University in April 2011. I love math but feel that communicating through writing is very important. Building a good relationship with a child is key to helping them learn. When good relationships are developed children can then trust the teacher or tutor to help them in whatever way possible. This is a time where the students is relaxed and open to learning new ideas. There is not pressure to learn, but an excitement to succeed. All students can learn, given the proper instruction.
