A Little Bit About Me...

I am kind of new to teaching. I have taught my little brother everything he knows, and I've been told I have a really good way of teaching. Younger students catch on very quickly to what it is I am teaching. If they don't catch on quick, then no problem. I'm very patient and never give up until a student understands the concept. I am a trained researcher in molecular biology, with a BS in Neurobiology, Physiology, & Behavior, and MS in Nutritional Biology. I spent some time as an undergraduate volunteering at a local teen center as a one-on-one tutor in math and English (essay writing). As a graduate student, I taught an upper-division laboratory course in current biotechnology applications related to protein and DNA analyses. I have also done several mentorships during my academic career, teaching and supervising undergraduates in basic research skills. From my studies at UC Merced, I earned a 3.78 GPA, and gained admission to multiple PharmD programs in California. While my formal tutoring experience is limited, I have had various experience tutoring friends and leading study groups in subjects such as Biology, Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and English.
I am a very empathetic teacher who gears my teaching based on the learner's needs. Teaching is my passion, I believe that every student has the ability to do better and every student can be taught. There is no set method to teach as every person absorbs information differently. I like to teach by providing many different methods of instruction and then observing which is the best of my students. In the mathematics and science areas there are a variety of instruction methods.
