Biology is one of my top subjects! I have a B.S. in Biology, an M.A. in Entomology, and several credit hours towards a Ph.D in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. I have taught both lecture and laboratory sections of General Biology at the college level and high school level. In addition to my formal teaching experiences, I also worked as a zoo educator for many years teaching about animals, biomes, ecology, and conservation. The most important thing to remember when teaching a child new concepts is patience. All children learn skills in different ways. Some catch on quickly, others need more time. Even the way in which you demonstrate how a problem is solved can make a difference. I usually try several methods for solving problems rather than insist that they learn the traditional methods only. The little bit of extra time spent giving them the optional techniques could make a world of difference in their educational success.
