A Little Bit About Me...

While studying at NDSU I had the opportunity to tutor other athletes in geology, basic math, and the sciences as part of a work study program to help student athletes. I became a wilderness guide and instructor, teaching subjects such as cross-country skiing, swimming, trip leading, outdoor education, experiential learning to children and adults of all ages and abilities. While I was an undergraduate at Marshall University, I was asked by my thesis professor to help out in the tutoring center provided by the college of math. While I was there I helped students with their math courses ranging from college algebra to upper levels of calculus and differential equations. Being a learning disabled student myself, I have learned that not all students retain information the same. I feel this gives me an upper hand on techniques to get students to learn.
As of right now I do not have my teaching certicifate, however, I do plan on going back to school to get my certificate. When I was tutoring I had to multi-task between students. At first, the task was difficult but I eventually got used to it.
