My classroom experience with Special Education started while in college at Illinois State University, where I gained very valuable experience teaching in a variety of classrooms. For one semester, I taught in a junior high life-skills classroom where we practiced daily living skills and went out into the community so the students could practice skills such as locating items in a store, paying with money, and crossing the street. Then I spent my Fieldbase semester at two different schools. The first one was 4th and 5th grade students with learning disabilities. There, I taught them the core subjects of Math, Reading, and Writing, and went into their regular education classes to help them with study skills, Science, and Social Studies. I currently have my Associate in Arts from College of DuPage as well. I have worked with children of all ages throughout my high school and college career. When studying at College of DuPage, I had many opportunities to observe and student teach within Middle School Special Education classrooms, specifically English. I loved it! When I'm home for the summer I am a head teacher at a daycare facility for an Elementary Summer STEAM camp. I am in charge of planning lessons and activities for my students. I am very comfortable working with students of all ages and those with disabi

I have served as the 6th grade lead teacher at Rolling Acres Edison. I teach full inclusion science and social studies by integrating math and reading skills. I am responsible for leading daily team meetings concerning student data. Together we use monthly online diagnostic testing to ensure student success on state mandated tests. As a team leader, I meet bi-weekly with our school's leadership team. I developed and implemented an RTI model used by the 5th and 6th grade teams at Rolling Acres in an effort to increase reading benchmark scores of struggling readers. I also coordinate our school's spelling bee and science fair. My teaching style is fun yet innovative. I incorporate all types of teaching styles to meet the needs of learners. I love to learn and demonstrate that through my teaching style. My students have fun in my classroom. I aim to entertain in an effort to mak
