I believe that when the basic concepts of math and science are mastered, the complex concepts become simple. These subjects also need to be taught using real life examples so that students can see the importance of learning them. Finally, I believe the worst thing that an instructor can do is to ask student to use and memorize equation that they don't understand. I will always insure that a student will understand the why and not just the how. Anyone can become a master of math and science if they have the desire and are taught effectively. Teaching is in my blood. Both my parents were teachers. My father was a college professor and my mother was an elementary school teacher. As a PSR working in the school setting I students that were considered by some as untrainable. Often the students believed they were unable to learn or were dumb since they had always been told they were. I was able to work with some of the most difficult. I would make up games and contests to get them to try something. I believe in lots of encouragement and was recently told by one of my former clients, who couldn't read or write in the 7th grade, "I am really going to graduate this year. I knew I could do it because you showed me I can do it." She did too! While practicing law, I taught several community education courses on legal subjects for Idaho Legal Aid. I have a bachelors degree in business administration and an associates degree in health administration. I have had experience teaching preschoolers and help my own children at home. They are currently in 2nd, 4th, and 6th grades. I enjoy learning and had a 3.6 GPA when I finished my bachelors degree. I do very well in writing research papers. My schooling was online so I have a great deal of experience writing papers. Everyone has different learning styles and a teacher/tutor needs to figure out what learning style the student has in order to help them reach their highest potential. It is important to understand that some learn by hearing while others learn by seeing and doing. I love to help people learn and grow.
