I have worked with developmentally disabled adults and children for over 15 years off and on. Having children and taking time off throughout the years. I love my work and everything to do with this type of work. I'm just interested in more of a personal level and more rewarding work. Being a tutor would without a doubt be amazing work.

My teaching style is hands on. I get to know the student I am tutoring, figure out why they are struggling and create a plan specific to their needs. I have tutored several students in Calculus 1, algebra and geometry. I helped several students with their placement exams in math for colleges. I worked at Inver Hills Community college tutoring center tutoring Math and Science. Being a Dyslexic that worked my way through an engineering degree. I know how important teaching and learning style is. I am also working towards becoming a Barton Certified Tutor for Dyslexia.

Teaching has always been my passion & I enjoy every minute. I believe that all children can learn given the oppurtunity to learn verbally, kinesthetically or whatever way they learn best. From 1980-1989 I worked as a Program Coordinator for a Developmental Achievement Center for mentally handicapped adults. My responsibilities included teaching, preparing learning materials for basic reading, personal finance, and vocational skills, implementing behavior programs, supervising 7 staff members, and writing quarterly lesson plans and progress reports. I also spent a couple of hours per week for 2 years, tutoring my blind supervisor on the use of computers. In 1992, I went back to college to pursue my true passion, and earned a degree in mathematics and computer science.
