A Little Bit About Me...

As an active member of my community, in the form of pageantry, volunteering, and leadership, I have always enjoyed instructing others. Currently, I love my job at Midwest Generation as an Instructional Designer of Training. I get to train Engineers and Office Managers on subjects I knew little about, and have grown in responsibility and development. I have been teaching for 25 years. I began as a high-school teacher, taught grade school and special education, and then spent 20 years as a university professor of English and philosophy. I started tutoring as a graduate student and have been doing it on and off now for 20 years.
I like working with grade-school students, but I like best a variety of teaching situations. That for me truly represents the challange of teaching. I believe a great teacher needs to have proper skills and talents for teaching. I learned a lot while growing up from a great teacher; my mother. My mother was a teacher for thirty years teaching elementary grades. I learned a great teacher needs to be respectful, patient and to be able to illustrate the lesson in an easy, simple way. I try to provide simple analogies for each concept. This enables the student to grasp the concept easier and faster.
