I have worked with different levels of mental health and emotional maturity for several years. I have spent much of my spare time working within the community at youth centers, soup kitchens and veteran administration homes. I feel that working with many different types and levels of human functioning has enabled me to be more able to adjust my teaching and assisting styles to better serve my community. Each person learns at an individual pace. I use the Gardner system of multiple intelligences to facilitate individual learning style. I have a daughter in the 8th grade and a son in the 6th. I have home schooled them the past 9 years. They have very different learning styles which has helped me to learn to teach in different ways to accommodate their needs. I am patient and easy going and I love helping kids. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. I have very strong math skills, especially in Algebra, which is what my daughter is learning now. I excelled in grammar, art, health, and science as well. I was a teacher at a private school for a year after college before I started a family and began home schooling. In high school and all even through college math had always been my hardest subject. My second year in college I had a math professor that had a different approach to teaching math and for the first time in my life I finally understood math! I am a Creativity Consultant and use a wide variety of teaching styles in my classes and individual sessions, including lectures, demonstrations, mind mapping, freeflow writing, focusing, and intuitive problem solving. I am a dynamic teacher who has a gift for inspiring, empowering and motivating children of all ages. For 26 years, I have presented my writing and expressive arts classes in California, Washington State and North Carolina. I have been a substitute teacher and tutor in Language Arts, biological sciences, social sciences, math, mind mapping and study skills. I have offered staff presentations for teachers in whole brain learning, the seven intelligences and creative thinking.
