I am a graduate of Northeast State Community College. I am currently attending East Tennessee State University in pursuit of a BA in English with a minor in Education. I have been working with students form ages 5 to 14 yrs. in age for 2+ years. I like to give intruction and then give the student tools and resources to help them find their answers. Learning is a voyage of discovery; my role is to show students how to set foot upon that road. However, I believe in setting high standards for student achievement. Although my degree and early experience is in journalism, I have spent 16 years teaching middle school English. During that time I taught English Language Arts, Journalism, and TV Production. I have always nurtured a love for English literature, both in myself and in my students. I have a daughter in the 8th grade and a son in the 6th. I have home schooled them the past 9 years. They have very different learning styles which has helped me to learn to teach in different ways to accommodate their needs. I am patient and easy going and I love helping kids. I have a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in accounting. I have very strong math skills, especially in Algebra, which is what my daughter is learning now. I excelled in grammar, art, health, and science as well. I was a teacher at a private school for a year after college before I started a family and began home schooling. My daughter is now in the 8th grade and tests at the college level in reading and high school levels at most other subjects.

I hold a bachelor degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Marketing. I majored in Elementary Education for two years before I switched majors. I started a master degree program in International Relations in 2009 and decided to return to school in the fall for a master's degree in social work.
