I taught with the Bangor adult education program in the early 1980's as a graduate student in educational psychology. I taught adults a variety of subjects math, English and GED preparation at that time. I also taught English as a Second language with them. I also hold a masters in education at the University of Maine at Orono that I have not listed in the formal education section. I reserved that section for relevant finance and accounting information. But having said that, I have a broad psychology and education background (I was a clinical counselor for 12 years)that goes along with my knowledge of finance and accounting theory. My teaching style is structured with my following a pre-determined outlined agenda which ordinarily would have an area designated for issues that the students wish to raise. Here is an example of my preferred prelab lecture: call class roll/roster my name course name and number priorities of the course problems I recognized while grading previous assignment give floor open to students for questions or issues the lab concept for today's lab demonstrate lab techniques/relevant calculations if necessary give floor open to students for issues/questions start lab All of my teaching experience in chemistry comes from my teaching General Chemistry Labs while pursuing Graduate Studies. This experience relates to my issuing pre-lab lectures prior to lab starting and this basically was designed to summarize the lab and work through example problems or demonstrations.

Working with younger children and teens has always been fun for myself. I think it's good to get to know the student on somewhat of a personal level. This allows for you to understand how the student thinks and learns, since every student learns differently. I am a very patient person and I try to find the best possible learning approach. I recently graduated from the University of Maine with a degree in Civil Engineering in December 2009, which has given me a very strong mathematical background. I have completed courses through Calculus III, Differential Equations, and Linear Algebra. I have worked with children at the local boys and girls club, which included children in grades 4-10.
