A Little Bit About Me...

I am a strong believer in teaching through examples and letting students try to apply the knowledge I have taught them at various smaller stages, then apply it to the bigger picture. I love working with kids, and I think that with patience, understanding, and time, all students are capable of reaching their potential.
As an undergraduate, I attended Purdue University and worked as a teaching assistant where I ran my own lab, instructing students for one of their core management courses. In my junior year, I was asked to apply to an invitation-only program for an an accelerated MBA program only for exceptional students. I am now entering my final year of this program and will graduate in 2011 with a BS in Business Management and a Masters degree in Business Administration. The graduate program is team focused and emphasizes working with and teaching diverse groups of people.

A Little Bit About Me...

I have extensive preparation and training that will allow me to succeed as an English tutor. I am a licensed substitute teacher in the state of Indiana. I have been actively teaching with Noblesville Schools (Noblesville, IN) since October of 2006. I have gained additional teaching experience as a Bible study teacher of two years. As such I lecture for about an hour and a half most Sunday afternoons. Additionally, I spent three years as a shift manager in food service where I was responsible for training new employees. I always received positive feedback from my trainees. I have specific expertise in the area of English and language arts. My undergraduate degree is in journalism but I also took and excelled at courses in composition, creative writing, and writing for broadcast. As an engineer and manager, training employees was an integral component of work performed throughout my ten-year professional career. I created systems and procedures, followed by training and "tutoring" for successful implementation. I also worked for the university during my college years as a Chemistry coach. I tutored students 20-hours per week for four years, providing one-on-one and team services. In high-school, I tutored elementary students in mathematics and reading. More recently, I participated in the HOSTS program, which is a program for the advancement of reading in elementary schools.
