My comments on tutoring English ESOL : I tutored ESL students for 3 years at an academy and privately. I am currently enrolled in a class to receive a TEFL/TESOL certification.

In 2001, I received my certification in Elementary Education from CCSU. I then substitute taught for the town of West Hartford for 2 years while I got married and had my son. He had a lot of health problems so the decision was made for me to stay home with him. When it came to Kindergarten he still had many health issues so we thought it was best to keep him home and I began to Homeschool him. Homeschooling has worked well for him and his younger sisters so I have continued even though his health is far better. He is now entering 6th grade. My oldest daughter is 9 years old and beginning 6th grade math and 5th grade Language Arts. My 3 year old daughter is learning to read and my 16 month old daughter is along for the ride. A Little Bit About Me...

I understand that children (and adults) have differennt learning styles and try to tailor my approach to the specific needs of the student. The bilingual students I teach have a unique challenge in that the letters of the alphabet represent different sounds in English versus Spanish.
