A Little Bit About Me...

I have a natural passion for educating youth of all ages and find joy in helping them succeed. No child is unreachable when it comes to connecting with them. The only true difficulty may be finding their learning style. Teaching is easy when you know your audience. Our country has put our youth in a state of desperation with regard to their level of education, desire to obtain higher levels of education, and the ability to compete internationally. I want to be a part of the solution in reaching our youth and reassuring them that they can still be and achieve anything they seek.

I believe that all children can learn and all children are capable of learning. But, all students learn differently, so, I feel that by changing lessons and incorporating different things into each one to accomodate most, or all, students is necessary. When children are able to learn and gain experiences on their own, with little or no teacher intervention, they learn at their best. By doing fun activities, children are able to gain and retain knowledge better. I want to be able to help children as much as I can, while still letting them learn on their own by making new discoveries.
As a graduate with a BS degree in Elementary Education, I have gained knowledge in the practice of teaching elementary school. I have been able to observe classrooms as well as student teach. I love teaching, sharing great stories, interesting information and different ways of looking at problems with students. I am patient and willing to go over a concept with a student until he or she understands it. I am a firm believer in the "I do it, we do it, you do it" approach. I will teach my students what they need to know, then we will practice the skill together, then I will give them some problems to try on their own. I strive to help my students leave a lesson feeling like they are smart and capable of understanding anything.

I believe that a solid education is something every child should have. All children learn in their own way. It is the responsibility of the teacher and parents to determine the way of learning that is most beneficial to the child. It is also the job of the teacher and parents to set their child up for success by helping them gain the knowledge they need. Children should feel they are in a safe environment as they learn. I am dedicated to helping students reach their potential and to teaching them the joy of learning.
Helping others learn has always been a joy of mine. I have a BS degree in Elementary Education. I also hold a current Professional Teaching License. I am certified to teach kindergarten through eighth grade and highly qualified for kindergarten through sixth grade. I also have the experience of being a classroom teacher for three years.

More About This Tutor...

As a staff accountant for a large, global corporation (sales revenue approx. $250 million/yr) I have very much experience in all areas of finance and accounting. I specialize in journal entry writing and reconciliations. I reconcile both bank account statements and account balances with my master bank reconciliation having approximately $40 million debits and credits monthly.
I love teaching and showing people how easy accounting can be and how much it helps you in real life situations. Most students get overwhelmed easily with double entry accrual accounting. I find it best to relate the material directly to the students personal life purchase and income habits. This way they can have a hands on approach and hopefully find the rules easy and helpful in daily financial situations.
