During the session I encourage the student's learning by asking open-ended questions to encourage critical thinking. With writing assignments, the pen is always in the student's hand and, with guidance, the student makes choices about his or her writing. English and Writing CAN be Fun!

Since being awarded a master's degree in 2008, I've taught English composition, literature, and reading comprehension courses at Wayne State University, Henry Ford Community College, Oakland Community College, and Jackson Community College. I am currently a professor of English at Wayne County Community College.
The collaborative learning approach, where students are encouraged to discuss what and how they're learning, is most effective. Students tend to engage much better with course material when the instructor has discussions with them, as opposed to lecturing at them.

My comments on tutoring Shakespeare : I have been a state-certified teacher of English and French for 18 years.

My teaching style...? I do not have only one; part of the point of tutoring is the ability to truly tailor styles/strategies to individuals or small groups. I must say that I am the funniest person I know, and I crack myself up all the time. Humor is always one of my favorite/best strategies.
I am a certified teacher of French and English; I have taught both subjects at the middle and high school levels for 18 years.
