I am currently attending USU to get a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. I love math, understand it well, and have taken two classes on how to teach math in a way students can understand. I usually start by teaching the general mechanics of the instrument, demonstrating the different features of the guitar and how they work. I believe that it is paramount that students learn how to tune their instrument before they can play it. I show them the techniques of working the fretboard and how to produce a proper tone. I will then assess the students knowledge of basic music theory and proceed based on that knowledge. My background is in music. My first formal training started taking piano lessons when I was eight years old. During my junior high and high school years I was in the band. My primary instrument was the trumpet.
