A Little Bit About Me...

My approach to teaching science is to begin by applying the basic principles of biology and chemistry to everyday life. I believe it’s easier to understand these subjects when they are related to human health and current events. I also try to create an environment where students felt comfortable asking questions and open discussions are encouraged. Lastly, I am conscious not to overwhelm students with details and frequently pause to ask the student how the session is going if I feel he/she is not engaged.

I was a teachers aid at the University of Minnesota for three years in the anatomy department. I was a the lead embalmer for the University and worked for the Anatomy bequest program. As a recent graduate of Saint John’s University, I possess many skills that make me a great tutor candidate. I graduated with a BA in Biology, along with a minor in secondary education and teaching certification pending the completion of my student teaching in fall 2010.
