A Little Bit About Me...

My approach to teaching science is to begin by applying the basic principles of biology and chemistry to everyday life. I believe it’s easier to understand these subjects when they are related to human health and current events. I also try to create an environment where students felt comfortable asking questions and open discussions are encouraged. Lastly, I am conscious not to overwhelm students with details and frequently pause to ask the student how the session is going if I feel he/she is not engaged.
I have recently received my Ph.D. in biochemistry from the laboratory of Prof. F. Peter Guengerich at Vanderbilt University. I am seeking a teaching position near my family in Minnesota. As a recent graduate of Saint John’s University, I possess many skills that make me a great tutor candidate. Throughout college, I held many teaching and tutoring positions. I was a teachers aid at the University of Minnesota for three years in the anatomy department. I was a the lead embalmer for the University and worked for the Anatomy bequest program.
