American Sign language is my minor in colleg, So far I have had three semesters of American Sign Langugae, All completed at The University Of North Carolina At Greensboro. In June I would have completed my fourth semester, ASL 4. I have written numerous papers through out both my highschool and college career. Focusing on various topics,and ranging in different forms, from Narrations,summaries, and theoretical style papers. Four years ago, I graduated Magna Cum Laude from a local university. I received a BS in Rehabilitation Studies. This degree prepared me to work with our special population. My ultimate desire was to work with children. Therefore, I returned to UNCG and obtained my License in Special Education K-12. Over the past four years, I have successfully worked in the public school system. I teach at the elementary level which allows me to teach Math, Language Arts, Science and Social Studies. Teaching to me is about relating the information to the students in a way they can understand. It is very important to make the material relevant to their lives somehow. Therefore it is important to get to know your students and their hobbies and interests. Another key thing needed to teach is patience. You cannot expect them to race through anything. Everyone has their own pace. It is also important to make the information interesting and entertaining to some extent, Especially for younger students. Coming from the influence of a family of educators, I realized early on my affinity towards teaching. In addition to my college degrees, I have been very involved in the 'summer camp' experience. Over six summers, I worked with two summer camps to teach various physical and academic curricula to grade groups K-5, 6-8, 9-12.
