A Little Bit About Me...

American Sign language is my minor in colleg, So far I have had three semesters of American Sign Langugae, All completed at The University Of North Carolina At Greensboro. In June I would have completed my fourth semester, ASL 4. I have written numerous papers through out both my highschool and college career. Focusing on various topics,and ranging in different forms, from Narrations,summaries, and theoretical style papers. I have helped students ranging in ages 4-16 in afterschool programs with homeowork assistance, studying skills and project preparation.

A Little Bit About Me...

Teaching is an exciting profession for me. I believe all kids including the most intellectually disabled can learn. I believe in setting high but realistic goals for students. Learning starts before children enter school and should be integrated between home and school. I am a firm believer in laying strong foundations in the lower grades, and building upon this as the child develops. Teaching children through systematic and explicit instruction has worked best for the students in my classes. Teaching to me is about relating the information to the students in a way they can understand. It is very important to make the material relevant to their lives somehow. Therefore it is important to get to know your students and their hobbies and interests. Another key thing needed to teach is patience. You cannot expect them to race through anything. Everyone has their own pace. It is also important to make the information interesting and entertaining to some extent, Especially for younger students.
