My comments on tutoring Musical : I was the co-director of Deshler High School's spring musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat in 2011. I worked with students individually to improve their acting and singing technique.

Most of my experience comes from substitute teaching. I have been a certified local substitute teacher since September of 2010. I have taught everything from math and science to physical education and music while working as a local substitute teacher. I was able to provide additional service by mentoring individuals who were struggling with material in lessons and assignments. Other professional experience comes from working as a private voice tutor since May of 2010. I have coached many individuals both young and old through voice lessons to establish a core of healthy vocal routines and technique. Additionally, I gathered experience through directing my local church choir from January-May of 2011. I conducted every two weeks with additional performances in the Lenten season, led weekly rehearsals and chose all music for the choir, which was coordinated with weekly readings.

Prior to and during my employment with Metropolitan Community College (Between 1998 and 2007) I was a volunteer tutor with non traditional students in the Adult Basic Education/General Education Development ABE/GED program of Metro community college.
I love to see the proverbial light come on and the students eyes widen and they say "OH! I get it!" I've tutored a wide variety of students from diverse backgrounds. I try to make mathematics fun, like a puzzle to be figured out, and remove the "hard chore" stigma which is generally hard pressed into a students mind by the time I arrive. Getting the student to believe in themselves and believe mathematics isn't a daunting task it's just difficult until you learn the tricks is my goal. I've notice most students find word problems to be most challenging so I purchased a word problem book to draw examples from which seems to help.

A Little Bit About Me...

For some time, I have been in other student's lives influencing their skills learning experience. As a grade school student, I worked with elementary school teachers for a couple of years, helping children in lower grade levels with math and science. Time and time again, through earning my diploma, BS in Biology and attending medical/dental school, I've invested my abilities to help students through lessons and courses that were hurdles: math, sciences, music, and Spanish.
First and foremost, getting to know the student and what appeals to them most is the objective. Correlating things that excite or motivate him/her with the subject of study helps maintain focus.
