I developed a heart for young people at an early age, as my parents were missionaries to Native Americans. I truly believe that education has changed my life and promote higher education. I am able to relate to children of all ages and in the past two years especially related to high school and young college students who were looking for their way in life. I have worked in a higher education environment since 2000. I tuaught CPR and First Aid classes for 4 years for Child Care providers from 1996 to 2000. In college, I was a Math Tutor in all the requisite courses and calculus. I have earned two bachelor degrees, BS in Math and BS in Mechanical Engineering, which has enabled me to gain an understanding in many areas of math and science. In addition, I have learned extensive grammatical skills due to writing research papers and laboratory reports, along with essays in many various areas of study. My teaching style depends on the student. If the student is not understanding something I present the information in one way. If this does not click, then I will find another way to explain the information. I love to see kids (and adults) understand new concepts. I am very patient when teaching and use repetition frequently to help the student learn the foundations of the subject. I do not think something is too hard for a student to learn. I feel that if they do try and put forth a little bit of effort they will see positive outcomes. Since I've been tutoring I've helped around 50 students individually and have developed different teaching styles to suit different students. I am aware that each person learns material in a different manner so the teaching style must be adapted to suit their individual needs. I am patient and friendly and more than capable of explaining material so that students are able to grasp it. I have been tutoring my entire college career.
